Shared ownership homes at former Salford Reds rugby ground

Shared ownership homes are complete following the regeneration of the former Salford Reds rugby ground, The Willows.

Residents and their families have now moved into The Willows development in Weaste, Salford following an £11 million transformation of the derelict ground into 103 much needed new family houses, apartments and bungalows. The development includes 22 shared ownership properties– giving local people the opportunity to take a 25% or upwards equity stake in a home for less than £29,000.

As a tribute to the heritage of the much-loved club, the streets on the new scheme have been named after former players including Lance Todd Close and Gus Risman Street.

Colette McKune, Group Deputy Chief Executive at ForLiving’s parent company ForViva said: “We are delighted to have welcomed families into their new homes and to be marking the completion of this project which has helped transform a derelict and challenging site into a thriving community.

Homes England supported the development of the site contributing ÂŁ2.75 million in funding to transform the area.
